Loki

Loki waiting with a Kubrow.
Can’t hit what you can’t see…

Overview: Pure utility in a stealthy package, Loki puts the agile in fragile but lacks any offensive powers. That said, being able to remain invisible for extended periods of time, create decoys, teleport and perform a radial disarm effect gives you plenty to do. Pick up the components from the Hyena Pack on Neptune.

Prime: Loki prime is currently vaulted, so if you want to obtain him, you’ll need to ask friends and clanmates if they have any relics, try the trading channel or wait for an unvaulting event.

Special: Wall latching lasts ten times longer. Wow. Pretty much pointless as passives go, might be useful for unlocking a riven mod or the Proton mod-set, but that’s it.

Pros: Invisibility (2) gives functional invulnerability when played cautiously, great augments for customisation, excellent crowd control options, easy access to stealth damage multipliers.

Cons: No offensive powers, very fragile if spotted.

Powers: Decoy (1) summons a hologram of Loki to draw fire – it’s immobile, so it doesn’t last long, but does have a few uses. Combined with the Saviour Decoy augment, the hologram will sacrifice itself to prevent you from being downed. You can also try the Deceptive Bond augment, where 50% of damage taken is transferred to the Decoy (1)… and 50% of damage taken by the Decoy (1) is transferred to Loki.

The key to Loki is positioning and maintaining Invisibility (2) at all times. Being invisible sounds great (enemies won’t target you, and won’t even react to you without provocation) but it does not equal invulnerability – so watch your teammates, and avoid getting between them and a shotgun toting marine at all costs. Even if you do that, you can still be hit by bombard explosions, flamethrowers, mines and area attacks. For stealth missions, you can use the Hushed Invisibility augment to silence all your attacks!

Use Switch Teleport (3) to swap places with a well positioned Decoy (1) to bypass hazards in spy missions, or for movement in general. The Safeguard Switch augment will render a targeted ally invulnerable for 6 seconds on use – but keep in mind most players hate being randomly teleported – it is disorientating and can ruin a well placed sniper shot. Fun fact, you can steal the one-man aircraft used by the Grineer in the Plains of Eidolon by targeting their pilots!

Radial Disarm (4) can steal all of those awkward weapons from an enemy horde – couple it with the Irradiating Disarm augment mod for radiation based hilarity, with every enemy caught in the effect beating each other with sticks. Combined with the high range, this is one of the best crowd-control powers in the game.

Opinion: I wouldn’t say Loki was my favourite frame (most of the time it feels like you are playing in easy mode) but it has undeniable group utility and superb solo stealth capabilities – keep in mind you can rack up a five times experience multiplier if you keep killing unalerted foes. Factoring in the ease with which the basic version can be acquired, it is a solid addition to any collection and a great way to take the hassle out of spy or rescue missions.
