Overview: Do you like fire? Do you like setting things on fire? If yes, Ember has you (and anyone nearby) covered (in accelerant) so find her blueprints on Tethys, Saturn.
Prime: Ember prime is currently vaulted, meaning that you’ll need to ask friends and clanmates for the relics, try the trade channel or simply wait for an unvaulting event. Ember prime boasts improved armour and shields.
Special: Ember gains 5% additional power strength for every burning enemy within 50 metres. Since her whole thing is setting people on fire, I’ll let you figure out if it’s any good.
Pros: Good crowd control options, decent amounts of fire damage, can provide support in the form of energy or damage reduction for allies thanks to augments.
Cons: Mediocre defensive stats – she relies on powers for protection, which can go wrong quickly if nullifiers are present. You’ll also need to get used to the heat gauge if you don’t want to flame out.
Style: Fireball (1) works as you’d expect, but you can wind a cast up for more range and damage, or cast multiple in sequence for a damage multiplier. Using the Fireball Frenzy augment replaces the charge with a short range heat damage boost for yourself and allies.
Immolation (2) provides a heat gauge that builds up over time (faster if you’ve been using Inferno (4) or Fireball (1)) and grants you damage reduction as the gauge fills – until you reach the top of the gauge, when you start to burn off energy at a rapid rate. You can also share half your bonus with allies using the Immolated Radiance augment, adding to team durability.
Reduce your temperature via Fire Blast (3) emitting a wave of flame that knocks down foes, stripping their armour and venting half your Immolation (2) heat. Adding the Healing Flame augment will restore health to you for every enemy struck by the blast, or the Purifying Flame augment to protect allies in the wave from status effects for 4 seconds.
Inferno (4) is the new party trick of Ember, dropping meteors on visible targets that set them and anyone nearby on fire – it’s charmingly direct, and fairly lethal. You can also get the Exothermic augment, making those slain when ignited by Inferno (4) have a 15% chance to drop an extra energy orb.
Opinion: Now that heat damage can strip armour and stack damage over time, Ember is fairly effective – and the damage reduction from Immolation (2) is no joke. Her augment mods increase her viability as a support frame, and she can do very well in survival, exterminate and defence missions. That said, she -needs- to be casting abilities often to perform well, and if you prefer guns, this may be a poor fit.
