Overview: Fill the minds of the enemy with illusions or warp reality into an impenetrable shield with Nyx. Component blueprints are available from Invasion: Phorid Manifestation, and her core blueprint can be found on the market.
Prime: Nyx prime relics can be obtained from the caches found in the empyrean Railjack missions – so make sure you raid any mining ships or asteroid bases you find for a chance at the drops! Nyx prime comes with better shields, armour and sprint speed.
Special: Enemies targeting Nyx suffer 20% reduced accuracy. Not bad if you keep moving, though somewhat unreliable.
Pros: Potent crowd control coupled with the ability can strip enemy armour and shields make Nyx something of a utility frame. She can also use the Assimilate augment for prolonged periods of invulnerability.
Cons: Poor direct damage options and mediocre defensive stats. She also has a lot of redundancy in her abilities – most apply some a variant of the “confused” status effect.
Powers: Nyx excels at causing confusion in enemy ranks – use Mind Control (1) to suborn an enemy, changing it to the Tenno cause for the duration of the ability – use it to ‘borrow’ Eximus or Ancient units to buff yourself! You can also apply a damage bonus to affected enemies with the Mind Freak augment.
Psychic Bolts (2) strips armour and shields along with disabling the support powers of infested ancients – she can make otherwise lethal circumstances into a joke. Try the Pacifying Bolts (2) to stun affected targets.
Chaos (3) does what it says on the tin, inflicting the confusion status effect on all foes in a large sphere. The Chaos Sphere augment leaves a shrinking zone that applies chaos to enemies walking into it. This can take a lot of heat away from a defence objective!
Finally, you can use Absorb (4) for immobile invulnerability, or try the Assimilate augment to remain active and mobile (though slowed) while gaining massive damage absorption. You can also detonate Absorb (4) for a radial blast based on the damage it has prevented – this has a short range, so consider the Singularity augment, causing you to drag enemies towards the Absorb (4) bubble. This power can be used to turn yourself into cover for an objective or squad-mates, like an ambulatory bunker.
Opinion: Sad to say, Nyx suffers from the ongoing evolution of Warframe. Back when she first came out the control she offered made her a massive asset, but direct damage is typically the sought after option these days, and even crowd-control powers tend to have damage baked in. That said, if you’re willing to experiment she still has some useful things to bring to a team. Disabling enemy auras can leave them much more open to attack, and Psychic Bolts can let you optimise weaponry for bare flesh rather than armour. She can also be a mobile bunker thanks to Assimilate – allies inside the Absorb bubble will be shielded by it, so you can act as living cover. Overall, I can’t recommend Nyx as she doesn’t really fit the high damage playstyle of the current game… but she is perfectly usable (and can be handy if you need to keep an objective alive) whilst being very easy to get. She’s going to do best in interception and defence missions, where her wide reaching crowd-control effects have room to shine.
