Overview: Did you ever see The Mummy (1999) and think Imhotep had a really nice set of powers? Well, Inaros is probably for you! Get him via the Sands of Inaros quest, available from the Void Trader every two weeks.
Prime: Inaros prime is currently available via the relics that can drop in missions or syndicate relic reward packs. Boasting higher energy, health and sprint speed, Inaros prime can also buy beacons from Baro Ki’Teer (the Void Trader) to access a unique “Void Raider” mission.
Special: No shields, but has a massive health pool and can steal life when performing finisher attacks. Becomes a sarcophagus when downed, and can leach health from nearby targets, potentially returning to life.
Pros: Absurdly tough when played to his strengths, excellent crowd control, can make great use of Rage and Hunter Adrenaline, has incredible synergy with Arcane Grace and can make some disgustingly tanky pets using the Link Armor & Link Health mods.
Cons: Constant chip damage to health due to lack of shields, poor radial damage abilities by default.
Powers: Desiccate (1) throws cursed sand in a cone, leeching health from enemies and blinding anyone facing Inaros, opening them up to finisher attacks – ideal for activating the heal on finisher passive. You can also make use of the Desiccation’s Curse augment to raise enemies killed by a finisher as sand-shadows to briefly fight for you.
Devour (2) can trap an enemy in quicksand, allowing you to interact with them and slowly drain their health, raising them as a shadow if fully drained. Allied Tenno can also drain life from enemies caught in the sand, and anyone interacting with a trapped foe counts as invulnerable. Note, the sheer amount of time it takes to kill someone with this power makes it more or less useless for damage – just consider it a crowd-control/health restore.
Make use of Sandstorm (3) to deal area effect damage and crowd control in a small radius – this also drains health from enemies affected by Devour (2) as though you were interacting with them. If you make use of the Elemental Sandstorm augment, this ability changes quite a bit. Not only will it gain a bonus to range, it will inflict status effects based on your melee weapon and mods. Status effects are applied at a rate of one per second, proportional to the damage on your weapon and multiplied by power strength. By using this with a slash-based weapon with viral (cold+toxic) damage added, you can quickly tear apart anything caught in your storm. Consider using the Overextended mod to get a decent size effect!
Get biblical with Scarab Swarm (4) sacrificing health for armour you can reactivate to release as a life stealing swarm. This can be further boosted with Negation Swarm, an augment that sacrifices a percentage of Scarab Swarm to ignore a status effect.
Build – Tank Inaros: The key feature of Inaros is his enormous health pool, making him incredibly resilient even without the use of powers. He’s also not bad in terms of armour, meaning that any damage applied to that health will be significantly reduced. By using Umbral Fibre, Umbral Vitality and Umbral Intensify, you can beef up his health to crazy levels. Get your hands on Arcane Grace (from Eidolon Hunting or the Nightwave rewards) and you can give him a chance to regenerate a percentage of his total health when you take damage. The end result is a warframe that can’t really die in most content – it regenerates more damage from being struck than it looses! Note that some of the hardest hitting enemies in the game can still be dangerous – such as the Acolytes of the Stalker on the Steel Path.
Opinion: While a bit of a nuisance to get, Inaros can be one of the beefiest frames in the game. Use his abilities to heal yourself and your squad-mates, keep enemies blind or trapped in sand and rely on your health to soak up bursts of damage and you’ll find him one of the most durable frames in the game – a superb choice for tough assassination missions. His lack of shields is something to keep in mind – while he has a massive amount of health, he doesn’t have the shield-gate of other warframes to prevent one-shot attacks – so keep that in mind if doing very high level content. On the plus side, he can make amazing use of Arcane Grace (chance to restore health when struck) along with the Hunter’s Adrenaline or Rage mods to refill his energy when taking damage.
