Fed up with your current abilities? Have a bunch of frames cluttering up your inventory? Have too many resources built up over time? All these and more can be solved with the Helminth, a friendly(ish) infested creature living inside your Orbiter.
Cyst: The first use of the Helminth is to remove the pink growth that can occur on the neck of a frame. By entering the Helminth room and sitting in the chair, you can instantly remove the growth and prevent it from ever returning. Alternatively, you can drain the cyst into a kubrow egg if you have an incubator, allowing you to grow a helminth charger pet.
Unlock: Further functions for the Helminth can be unlocked by buying the Helminth Segment item from the Entrati faction on Deimos. Building and installing this section will allow you to feed the Helminth, and it will modify your frames in return. The Helminth will will also increase in rank as you use it, adding additional features.
Feeding: Pretty simple, sit in the chair and select the “Feed Helminth” option. Give spare resources until you fill up the gauges on the right of the screen. Try to use a mixture of resources – you’ll get better results with more variety. Resources that will get a high return will have a small green triangle.
Subsuming: The Helminth can absorb and break down any normal (i.e. non-prime) frame. To do so, equip the frame and sit in the Helminth chair, then select “Subsume Warframe” from the menu on the left of the screen. Important: This will destroy the frame!
Replacing: The Helminth can replace a single power in any frame. It comes with a few of it’s own to pick from (more as the Helminth ranks up) but every subsumed frame will donate a specific power that you can add instead. For example, you could decide that you don’t use Excalibur’s Radial Javelin (3) very much, and thus replace it with Xata’s Whisper (1) from Xaku for a damage bonus power.
- Only one damage boosting power is allowed per frame i.e. Rhino would have to give up Roar (3) if it wanted to gain Xata’s Whisper (1) from Xaku
- Some powers have a slightly reduced effect when donated i.e. Dispensary (3) from Protea
- Frames with a replaced ability can use any augment mod for that ability
- Many frames have synergy between their powers (i.e. Oberon’s Hallowed Ground (2) Renewal (3) and Reckoning (4) all interact for additional effects) so think carefully about what you replace.
To replace a power, sit in the Helminth chair with the frame you want to modify and select the power you want from the menu on the left. You’ll then be prompted as to what power you want to replace, and what configurations you want to apply this power to. Note that you can reverse these changes if you don’t like the effects using the same process.
