Destiny 2

A sci-fi shooter that adds pseudo-mystical powers to the mix, you can play the base game for free on Steam with a premium charged for expansions. Good: The obvious thing to start with are the classes. Titan acts as a heavy duty close range brawler with an elemental theme, Hunter is an agile assassin and Warlock provides a mixture of showy support and damage spells. Finally, each class has their own movement … Continue reading Destiny 2

Star Wars: The Old Republic

The core game is free to play, while you’ll have to subscribe to unlock the expansion content. Good: There is a huge amount of content, with the eight different classes having their own storyline – and it’s not like most MMO titles that give you a couple of class-specific quests, the individual storyline for each class could serve as a standalone game. Each plot is pretty solid as well, with options to follow a light or dark … Continue reading Star Wars: The Old Republic

Review: Path of Exile

As a top-down isometric RPG like Diablo, this is a great choice if you want a highly customisable loot-centric game. It’s worth noting that it really is a free-to-play, as the only things you can buy are cosmetic (of which there are many) or … Continue reading Review: Path of Exile

Secret World: Legends

The unexpected re-release of the original Secret World, Legends attempts to meld the strong points of before (excellent story, superb world building, unique missions and rich lore) with accessible game-play and better underlying performance. Chosen by Gaia, your character gains enhanced physical power, access to magic and the ability reconstitute from death. With all these talents, it’s unsurprising that you’ll be “recruited” by one of the three major secret societies of the setting (The Illuminati, The Templars or The Dragon) each of whom have their own ethos and way of doing things, reflected in the central storyline and in mission … Continue reading Secret World: Legends
